A Kumbabhishekam or consecration that is performed at a temple is considered of utmost importance and very sacred. It is usually performed once in every 12 years after any repairs required internally and externally. The performance of the Kumbabhishekam is said to recharge the divine powers of the main deities and the Gopura Kalasa.
